(clause 5)

OTIS GRAND BLUES BAND
SOUND REQUIREMENTS RIDER

for Major venues and Festivals

see below for smaller venues

This is a recommended guideline to assist promoters in a proper acquisition of sound reinforcement (PA) for Otis Grand. The band is a 7-piece "High Energy"
electric blues band. A well-maintained and staffed sound system of the
highest quality is very important.

1 House Speaker System

It is important that it should be able to cleanly handle 110db peaks. Stereo is not mandatory but a good audible clean mix is necessary.

· For clubs with a capacity of between 500-1000 the sound system should
be at least 6k to 8k watts.

· For venues with capacities of 1000-3000 the sound system should be at
least 10k to 18k watts.

· Outdoor events often require double or more power than inside. Please take into consideration site size, mix distance and consult with professional PA
companies with experience in handling outdoor events.

Please remember it really is more important to have a little more power than
needed to ensure a good audible and clean mix, than to hire a smaller PA
and have distorted inaudible mix.

2 Monitor System

· Five (5) bi-amped wedges
· One (1) tri-amped drumfill
· Two (2) stereo side fills with suitable power
· 32X 10 monitor console and isolated split (SOUNDCRAFT, TAC, etc)
· 10 1/3 OCTAVE EQ'S (KLARK, WHITE, etc)

3 House Mix

24 channel house console with minimum 2 Aux sends
1 Digital reverb (SPX-90 OR 900, LEXICON PCM-70)

PLEASE NOTE: THE OTIS GRAND BAND IS A NATURAL SOUNDING BLUES BAND, AND WE DO NOT LIKE ANY OTHER EFFECTS SUCH AS GATING, COMPRESSION OR CHORUS, ETC.

NOTE: A 32 to 40 channel input console is highly recommended for shows
hosting two or more bands, so that the opening acts are allocated
separate channels from Otis Grand.

4 Technical Personnel

It is of the utmost importance that the system is staffed by persons
highly familiar with the system to assist the band's technical staff.

a. THE BAND DOES NOT TRAVEL WITH A MONITOR ENGINEER OR LIGHTS ENGINEER.

b. Contents of the front of house mix and the monitor mix will be set by the band's stage crew and a sound check will be performed by the band before any opening act places equipment on the stage.

c. The band's stage crew cannot assemble the sound system or help in breaking down the system.

5 Lighting

The light system should be simple and minimum. but a minimum of 20 par cans and 2 spot lights is welcome. We do not require special effects such as fog, smoke, mirror effects, etc. colours should be kept to a minimum, using banks of colour instead of individual colour patterns.

The overall effect should be to keep attention on the band and not the light show.

THE BAND DOES NOT CARRY A LIGHTING ENGINEER.

6 Transportation

MANAGEMENT AGREES TO PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION FOR ALL TRAVEL FOR ARTIST'S ENTOURAGE, MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS, EQUIPMENT AND BAGGAGE INCLUDING TO AND FROM AIRPORTS, HOTELS AND CONCERT HALLS. TRANSPORTATION SHOULD BE ON SCHEDULED COMMERCIAL AIRLINES, MINI BUS/COACH OR CARS.

We require a van to transport guitars, equipment, etc.
THE FLIGHT CASES WILL NOT FIT IN A CAR. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Management is responsible for arranging and paying the cost of any necessary luggage handling, any visa and immigration clearance and work permits.

7 Dressing Room

Management will provide a heated or air conditioned dressing room with seating and big enough to fit at least 15 people. This room must be secure and lockable.

8 Stage

Management will provide a stage no smaller than 24feet x 30feet x 6feet and a drum riser no smaller than 8feet x 8feet x 1foot. (Note: 1 foot = 31 cm.)

9 Power Supply

Management will provide adequate stage power for stage gear on no less than a 30 Amp breaker. Lights will be on a separate circuit and sound power should come from a 3rd source. Under no circumstances will the sound and light power be on the same circuit as the stage power.
